Abused and Neglected Children in Crisis

A sexually molested toddler returned to her pedophile father and re-molested...
A disturbed foster child who bounced around among 26 foster homes because she wasn't getting the therapy she needed to stabilize...
A little boy who waited seven endless years before he finally was adopted.
These are things that recently happened to children in the Colorado child protective system.
Each year, thousands of maltreated children are removed from their parents by social services. Too many young victims of horrific physical and sexual abuse are re-traumatized by the social workers, attorneys and judges who decide their futures. Life determining choices are made with scanty information, needed services are never delivered, and many children drift interminably in foster care. Each of these situations is avoidable when a child has a vigorous, skilled child advocate and an adequate supply of social services.

Our Mission

Since 1981, the Rocky Mountain Children's Law Center has been committed to protecting every child's rights to be free from abuse and neglect, to live in a safe, permanent home, and to have stable, nurturing relationships. Our goals are to:
  • Ensure that every child in the child protection system has access to high quality legal representation through a well trained attorney, or guardian ad litem;

  • Guarantee children in foster care a permanent home within one year of their first court date;

  • Serve as a national resource to promote systemic change for vulnerable children through conferences, training, consultation, and technical assistance.
